Another Brick In The Wall
Inspired by the Pink Floyd song 'Another Brick In The Wall' from their album 'The Wall', this painting reinforces the implications of the song's meaning with strong liberated expression of line and colour. A multitude of little windows are packed with detail, vibrance and happy colours. This serves to represent all people as autonomous individuals, not bricks in a wall to be forced under control.
These brick-shaped windows are formed in shape by a top layer of white grid lines that feature the tactile texture of the coloured drip lines underneath. This added element suggests an interconnectedness of the people (or bricks) despite any segregation imposed by said authority.
“We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey, teachers, leave them kids alone
All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall”
- Pink Floyd
